Details and Artwork

Where TinePlayer reads video details and artwork from.

When you open a video, TinePlayer attempts to find and display any information and artwork that is available either through sidecar files or by Jellyfin.

Sources

For a video on your disk, the details come from searching for an nfo file then by falling back to reading tags inside the video or parsing the filename.

For a video cast from Jellyfin, all details are provided by its library data.

Resolution, codec, frame rate, size, and tracks are always read from the video file itself.

Artwork

If a folder holds more than one video, the same names above prefixed with the video's name are used instead - Video (2019)-poster.jpg, Video (2019)-fanart.jpg and so on.

For a television episode, a -thumb.jpg beside the episode is used, and the series poster comes from the parent folder.

Settings

To stop TinePlayer from searching for sidecar files, set Settings › General › Read Metadata Beside Files to off. To disable just the backdrop artwork turn off Show Backdrop Artwork.

Videos cast from Jellyfin will still show details provided by its library.
